tne i7u0 DiocK ot snrivers uorner noaa m cnase agreement tot me car ioaay.Ross Amick wants his trial moved ;A Gettysburg man charged with child sexual abuse wants his trial moved out of the county because of pretrial publicity.The attorney for Ross Stanley Amick, 50, no fixed address, has filed motion asking the court to either move his trial from the county or select a jury from another county. The motion, filed by attorney Anthony Miley, claims that pretrial publicity — which noted that he had previously been charged with taking obscene photographs of infants — would make it impossible for Amick to get an impartial jury in Adams County.Amick has also ,filed motions requesting disclosure of Children and Youth Services records of the alleged victims, any physical evidence of sexual abuse, interviews with Childrenand Youth Service Agency officials and any exculpatory statements made by the two children that would tend to disprove the charges. A third set of motions filed by Amiek’s attorney ROSS Amick seeks an independent psychiatric or psychological evaluation of the competency of the two children to testify in court. A hearing on the motions has been set for 9 a.m., May 21.The trial has been continued until July 29. Amick is charged by Gettysburg Police Detective Walter G Gliem with rape, involuntary deviatesexual intercourse, statutory rape, 1 aggravated indecent assault, two counts of indecent assault, indecent J exposure and corruption of minors. Police allege that on Oct. 14, the two girls, ages 3 and 5, were talking quietly together when their conversation !was overheard by a baby sitter. The ibaby sitter asked them about their conversation. The children allegedly \told the baby sitter that Amick “had ,hurt their bottoms and they pointed to their genitals.”The baby sitter told the girls’ mother about the conversation. The girls told their mother the same story. They also said they had seen Amick naked. The alleged victims repeated the story to police.Several years ago, Amick was a (See AMICK on Page A3)
