A NORTHERN TRAGEDYPierre IK lorme Attempt* t: Kill Hl» Wife and thru Commits Suicide*A dispatch says ; Keports of a cast* of attempted murder followed b\ suicide last Wednesday has just reached Hdmonton hy travellers from the north.A half-breed, named Hierre Helot me. quarrelled with his wile lor refusing to accompany him to the j north on a freighter, Delorme, who is well known in Kdimmion. has a very jealous disposition, and his wile's refusal made him lurious. (lumping a knife h? stabbed herill.out t lie head and shoulders and then attempted to cut her throat. As she dropped insensible he tied. Neighbors soon found he r in an unconscious condition and had her cared for. The silk handket chief which she had around her neck undoubtedly saved her life.Meanwhile Delorme had fled. no one knowing whither. However, late Wednesday afternoon an Indian arrived at the Landing and reported having seen Delorme lying by the roadside, as if asleep, about seven miles from the village. Mounted police went out for him and found him dead, his throat having been cut. He was taken to the Landing and buried. His wife has recovered, and is now on the high way to her usual health and st length.
