The Marlon Chronicle has the following which will he of interest to readers of The Democrat in this county, to whom the case is familiar: “The case of the State vs Ifeo. Burnsworth, indicted for murder in connection with the murder of Weden A. Owen last September, was dismissed by the prosecutor last Tuesday, and Burnsworth was released from custody. If Burnsworth was guilty as indicted it is a public misfortune that he should go . unwhipped of justice* The fact is that the Owen tragedy is still enveloped in the midst of mystery, and the true story of that brutal murder will never be written. The evidence against Burnsworth is weak. The presumption and probability of his guilt are strong. No testimony could have been adduced against him other than was presented against Tom Hendricks. Much, probably over half, would have been ruled out on the ground of its irrelevancy. What was left was so doubtful as not to warrant a prosecution. The Chronicle is informed that a movement is on foot to procure the pardon of Tom Hendricks. In the meantime Hi Hendricks and Harvey Blicken-staffer, the guiltiest scoundrels of the whole combination, are reveling in ‘the glorious climate of Cali-forniaJ*
