Germany, November 1.*, 1S23, He came to America In 1817 andfirst located in Louiainua When flic Mexican war broke out he was one of the first to offer his services to the union and served with credit to him self throughout the short struggle. He was a faithful soldier and won manylaurels for brave deeds while under1 fire.At (lie close of the war he left the army and located in Ohio. In 181b lie c ame lo B irlingtnn, where he hadmade his residence slnlt;«. He was one of I lie first of the pioneers to come to this new settlement, and at that timeit was just in its formative stage. Hetook up a claim of land in what isnow Lincolnvllle, and during the bftv-siv years which followed he prospered. In 1851 he was united in marnaso p Miss Luclwlna Ftustteror, who pre-J ceded her husband to the grave twelve years ago. Of eleven children bom to this union eight survive. The funeralwill he private and will be hel 1 fromthe residence to-morrow.
