Juniors explore careersMore than 90% of the junior class at Granville High School participated in Shadow Day on May 1. Sponsored by the Granville Rotary and the high school Guidance Department, the day is intended to help juniors learn about careers they are considering.Many careers were explored that day including physical thereapy, medical doctor, architect, Realtor, and lawyer. Coordinators for the event were Terry White of Rotary and Mike Robertson and Mary Henry of the high school. Below are a few comments by students.Andy Large shadowed Joe Fleming at Denison: “I learned a lot about computers and had a great time.”Ryan Carey shadowed Andy Bastone in science and engineering: ‘‘Shadowing let me see how the plastics industry worked. It was very informative.**Christian Boex shadowed Hugh Marcy, civil engineer: “It was interesting to go around the area and see how many things civil engineers do that affect our daily lives.**Nick Evans shadowed Glen Abel of JBA Architects: “It was a fun and interesting experience. I learned how important computers were to architects. About 50% of their work is done by computer.”Scotty Nichols shadowed Mac Kennedy in construction management: “I visited some construction sites and my dream house was printed on a computer.”David Myers and Andy White shadowed Robert Stolz, WCLT news editor “It was great! We got to ride in the news van. We also sat in on the Midday Show which aired live.”
