The pellets entered the mouth and the exit wound was on the right side of the head, testimony revealed.Taylor, who did not testify before the jury, was arrested Feb. 6 in connection with the death of Proctor, who had been discharged from the U.S. Navy about one week before his death.During the three days of testimony, Solicitor Holdford attempted to prove that Taylor had killed Proctor sometime during the early morning hours of Feb. 4 in the wooded area off a rural paved road in the vicinity of Dunn’s Crossroads and that following the death Taylor had eaten breakfast at a Lucama truck stop.The solicitor presented evidence that revealed Taylor was seen leaving a Rocky Mount pizza parlor with Proctor about 12:05 a.m. Feb. 4 and that Proctor was never seen alive again.Brenda Wilkes, a waitress at the Lucama truck stop, testified she saw Taylor at the restaurant about 6 or 6:30 a.m. Feb. 4 and that he had a stain on a hand similar to blood.
