Whittig. William O’Hara, of Syracuse, was also arrested.Whittig has been missing since the• idiscovery of the attempt to burn theplant. His wife was taken to Auburnto-day.The Auburn plant was heavjly insured. A workman discovered holesin the floor and ropes dangling inthem saturated with benzine. Tberewere cans of gasolene and explosivesand everything in readiness for aquick conflagration. Whittig and Dip-pold disappeared after the discovery.Auburn, May 9.—In Recorder’s Court this morning Herman Bartelsro*f Syracuse, was arraigned on a charge of attempted arson. He wasrepresented by A. H. Cowie, of Syracuse, and Hull Greenfield, of this city. Examination was deferred until next Tuesday and bail was furnished in $3/“00.William O’Hara and Mrs Margaret Whittig gave bdil in $2,000 to appear at the same time.
