TWO MEN ARE IN JAIIT T8USPJCION^D OF BEING IMPLICATE ftM FRANZ HUESLER’S DEATH.✓x' Leonard C. (Koehler, alias Dr. Chas. iNPushecks and .Joseph* Held Taken t Woodstock Jail. ' -The death of Franz^ Itiiesler at Mareng under such peculiar cfrcumstances.ak rlt; 1 ated-i n-THE-HBR^-irB-1 a st-week-con tinU eto agitate the public mind-at Marengo, a indeed it does wherever the facts in th case are known. It will be remembere in our narration ofvlast week that a Ch cago doctor figured conspicuously in th case and he with Joseph Held have bee arrested and are n,ow in the county jail a Woodstock awaiting the action of th grand jury.A post-mortem examination was hel last Tuesday by Dr. C. M. Johnson an Dr. E. Windmueller and it.revealed tha the dead man did not have any*sign^c pneumonia, with which it«was said h died, but the right lung was in such condition as to indicate an acute stage o pleurisy and the left* lung was almos entirely gone. The stomach was bad!; inflamed and the Heart in nearly a norma condition;—He had- been-corapialntng-obeing sick for several days before hi death but no medical aid was secured fo him and no physician administered t him until the man who had been ther 'several timeH^beforenaiid:the name of Dr. Pusheck, came out fron Chicago to see Mr. Held*; he gave hie some of the homeopathic remedies fo which he was the agent* but those seemei to beof .no effect,Huesler made a will deeding his property to Held. He signed the document a fev hours before his death and it was wit nessed by Mrs. W. H. Harrison and Dr Pusheck. It has been rumored that Helc made a will deeding his property tlt; Huesler, but this is denied. The coroner’s jury returned a verdict the substance of which was that Huesle; came to his death from gross neglect want of medical attendance, nursing care and other causes unknown to $hlt; jury. One peculiar thing about the will wai the fact that in signing it as a witness thlt; - man who is now in jail with Held signed his name as Dr. Pusheck, but whose rea’ name is Leonard C. Koehler. The Chicagc Daily News sent a reporter to locate the Pusheck institute,^ for which Held and Koehler have worked, with the result that its location Is given as 330 LaSalle avenue, Chicago. It bears the sign “Eieetro-Homeopathy,” and is in charge of a man named Black, who, when seen by a reporter said he knew nothing about Huesler. He further said that Dr. “Koeh-✓/ ler is one of our regular physicians. He went to Marengo the other day to see a patient and stopped _aL HeltL’s-Jionse. Iknow-nothing of Held. The first I heard of this case was the dispatch from Marengo in a morning paper announcing the death of.Huesler.”_ When. he _ had got tlifs far inJiis-nami^ tive, jhowever, he remembered more of the case and continued: “Held is a buyer atMarengo. He comes to Chicago and makes purchases for Marengo people. He at times finds it possible to send patients to us. In fact, he sends us a good many. The other day Koehler went up there to see some of them and found at Held’s house this man Huesler, who was suffering {rfbm a cold. As soon as Koehler saw him he told him bis illness was fatal. Bure enough, Huesler died, in spite of all Koehler could do for him, Before he died the mayor of Marengo called and the man’s will was properly drawn by him. Koehler went up there to the coroner’s inquest, and I see by the dispatch he .was arrested on complaint of the state’s afctor-aa. -rendered^ TheJexamination of the man’s stomach, I am sure*—sh o wed—no tbi ng-suspici oius;—The-Whole thing is just-an attempt on the. part of the Marengo physicians to drive us out of that town.”An employe of Manager Black said that Held was regular agent of the physicians, •sending many patients—toisthem.-At a neighboring drug store it was said that'The physicians conducted very littlelocal business, butrbad'~mai3y1^entsljJbut‘T1who sent them names of patients.. These were visited by a corps of traveling physicians, and the prescriptions filled .and shipped from the central office.dKoeh 1 e r-and~Held-are~k--ja i l^tr-Woodstock.
