Mrs. Conrad Kaus Files 3 SuitsTotaling $77,387 Against CountyThree civil suits, charg i n g the Mower County Sheriff’s of-iiee with negligence, misfeasance and nonfeasance, will hefiled with the clerk of DistrictCourt today.Mrs. C'amelia Kaus. as trustee for the heirs and next of kin of Mr. and Mrs. Leo It. Talley, and on her own behest.is suing the County for $77,387for the murder last year of her parents and her subseq uent beating by their slayer, her husband, Conrad Harry Kaus.Says He ThreatenedThe complaint alleges Kaushad prior to the Aug. 29, 1964murder, threatened to kill or harm his wife and Mr. and Mrs. Tallev, and that Sheriff DovleF *Lindahl or his deputies were aware of the threats and Kaus’ “dangerous propensities.”The complaint claims t h e Sheriff’s office knew of Kaus’ previous criminal record of escapes from both the county jail and Stillwater Prison and still made him a trustee and permitted him to leave the jailwithout supervision.Sheriff CommentsSheriff Doyle Lindahl saidWtoday he felt the people of Mower County have a right to know the facts, but indicated he couldn’t comment until he hadmet with the proper authorities.He said. “I would like to make a statement but I must hold it in reservation until theproper authorities give me anokay.”*Other AllegationsSpecifically, the compla i n t says the Sheriff or his deputies permitted Kaus to leuve t h e jail Aug. 29. 1961. and failed not only to warn the Talleys and Mrs. Kaus but “failed to take steps necessary to confine him to custody and failed to notify other proper and appropriate authorities to assist in capturing said prisioner, Conrad Kaus.”The death - claim complaints also allege the Talleys were shot “with a pistol owned byMRS.
