A Prominent Brower of Syracuse i-IMiicihI Pmler Arrest.Syracuse, May P. Herman Bartels of this city, a prominent brewer, was arrested and taken to Auburn ibis morning on a charge of conspiracy to burn a malt house of his company, at Auburn last September.John Dippold of this city, an employe of Bartels, surrendered himself at Chicago and was taken toAuburn yesterday, where he made a confession implicating Bartels and Martin L. VVhittig. William O’Hara of Auburn was also arrested.Whit tig has been missing since the discovery of the attempt to burn the plant. His wife was taken toAuburn today.The Auburn plant was heavily insured. A workman discovered holes bored in the floors and ropes dangling in them saturated with benzine. There were cans of gasoline and explosives and everything in readiness for a quick conflagration. Whittig and Dippold disappeared after thediscovery.
