KARPIS’ BLOND BRIDE TELLS WEDDING STORYMrs. Grace Goldstein of Hot Springs Married OutlawSept. 25.Hot Springs, Ark., May 9.—Mrs. Grace Goldstein, 30 years old quiet-spoken blonde, said here Friday nigjit tha^t she an Alvin Karpis, former public enemy No 1, weremarried in New York last Sept. 25.She admitted they had been married under the name of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Woods and had lived in Hot Springs since that time until Karpis’ capture at New Orleans. last week.Mrs. Goldstein returned here Friday after a mysterious absence of 12 days, saying she had been detained by federal agents while Karpis and the last of his gang were being rounded up by the department of justice.Admission of the marriage came after repeated statements by Mrs. Goldstein that she was “better than a close friend” of Karpis and that “the government men seemed to think they could capture the Karpis gang better if I was out of theway.”“Are you and Alvin Karpis married?” Mrs. Goldstein was asked by a reporter.^“That’s more like it” she said Friday night.“When were you married?” “About a year ago.”“Where?”“I’d rather not say, but it was in New York City during the Baer-Louis fight.”“Under what name were you married?”“Mr. and Mrs. Ed Woods.”
