Webb and LaSalle counties and many claim that trouble has been expected before this time but today was the climax of the quarrel when neither expecting to meet the other, they came togother face to face, Kx-Sheriff Hill and his brother Jesse leaving the office of Sheriff Ortiz after a business conference and Jim Wright accompanied by a friend whose name is not known approaching the entrance of the office, Sheriff Hill states that he and his brother had just left Sheriff Ortiz and were leaving the building when they met Wright and his friend. Wright, so Hill claims made a move towards his hip pocket and knowing of the feeling of enmity toward himself M r. Hill drew and tired live shots all taking effect.Jesse Hill, who accompanied his brother at the time of the shooting has nothing to say, stood by the side of his brother as he fired the live fatal shots but did not take part in the shooting stating that he saw that his brother alreadymhad his man down. Wright's friend at the time firing started heat a hastv retreat and has not been seen since. Jesse was watching Wright’s companion and when he saw that he had disappeared made no atempt to enter the fight as he realized it was all over. At the first shot Wright staggered and when the shooting was over he was seen lying face downward against the foot of a mulberry tree about twenty feet from the door ofwthe entrance to the county offices.Sheriff Ortiz was sitting in hisnfHon nf tHtime of the shootino.
