May 9.—A -—ration was sprung at Elizabeth last night when Prosecutor Cohen announce thai the case of Mrs. Robert Whitman. indicted for murder in Wirt county, could not come up to-day because of the absence of a materia; witness.The prosecutor said the State - oniy witness. Mrs. Whiteman’s daugbt-r. Alice V.’hitemau. has been estranged from her mother since the tragedy-Last January Mrs. Whiteman shot Hc-Deevers in the Whiteman front yard, as lie was coming to see the sir:, readmits that she kilk-J him. but says that she had warned him never to come back as she had selected another fellow for Alice.The girl was the only person who saw the tragedy. and she promised the State strong support.
