SVHS Musicians Rate High At State Music FestivalStar Valley High School musicians brought home eight superior ratings and 10 excellent ratings from the state music festival held Friday and Saturday in Casper.According to Neil Tippets, music director, the following students received superior ratings: Ann Winters, flute solo; Betty Child, soprano solo; Susan Stauffer, piano solo; Julie Tippets. piano solo; Pat Roberts, piano solo; Ann Winters. Linda Wray. Paula Jo Stevig and Bonnie Merritt, flute quartet; Betty Child, Pat Roberts and Nancy Call, vocal trio; Trudy Brower. Betty Child. Lynn Croft. Helen Schwab, Thomas White, Lane Allred. Bill Hastings, and Curt Call, mixed octet.Receiving excellent ratings were: Nancy Call, oboe solo; Wayne Winters, trombone and vocal; Trudy Brower, vocal; Bill Hastings, piano; Paul Grosjean, trumpet; Fred Campbell, Paul Grosjean, Wayd Weber and Don Olson, trumpet quartet; Ann Winters, Julie Ann Tippets and Nancy Call, girls trio; Teddy Ann Archer, Richard Call. Vicki Hale and Janell Hyer, clarinet quartet; Tom Titensor, Thomas White, Brent Wadsworth and Ed Kennington, male quartet.Mr. Tippets reported that the group left Afton Thursday afternoon and returned Sunday evening Mr, and Mrs. Tippets accompanied the musicians.The group attended the musical play, “Brigadoon,” Fridayevening presented by the Natrona County High Drama and Music Department, and all attended the all state band, chorus and orchistra concert Saturday evening.Adjudicators for the festival were: vocal, Margaret Hillis. American Choral Foundation, Chicago; and Elmer Copley, Bethany College, Lindberg, Kan.; instrumental. Ralph Strouf. University of Denver; Frank Baird.
