Darwin,' the Chairman, which were ' unanimously adopted, viz:We the Committe, to whom was given the duty of reporting resolutions for tha occasion, beg leave to report as follows:Where•$, We have just received the mournful intelligence of the death of a late member of this Bar, Claiborne Rortr, Esq., who was killed in Nicaragua battling foremoat for the rights of tha people of that State against their despat rulers and against the intervention of the hired assassins of Costa Rica.Whereat, When he was yet with us, among whom he entered upon the labors and achieved the early honors of hit profession, he became , endeared to u», by bis generous nature, his amiable disposition, his cultivated mind, hit brilliant promise and bis exalted honor.Therefore, be itRewired, That we the members of the bar, his once companion*, feel ourselves particularly urged by considerations of esteem and by many cherished memories to pay this melancholy tribute to hit worth and to mourn the uokind fate that cut him down on the very threshold of a career that must have been crowned with success and garlanded with distinguished honor.That with tbo family of the departed we deeply condole in this their sad bereavement, and that we beg to tender them the melancholy sympathy of an earnest sorrow and of an honest tear.That w© sympathise with the movement in w hich, as a pioneer, he perished, and that, while we deplore his loss, we will yet proudly embrace the consolation that in the wars of progress and of l.berty our own circle gave a gall ant soldier to the strife and a hero to the \ willing sacrifice.That wc we wear the usual badge of mourn-ing during the remainder of this Court*That a copy of the proceedings of this meeting bp presented for publication to the papers of the cits', and that the President hereof wait npon the family of our departed brother tendering our condolence and presenting a j copy of our proceedings.C.
