Ottoville Council Discusses Fixing Damaged Police CarBy THELMA HOERSTENAlthough a number of village problems were discussed at theOttoville Village Councilmeeting last night, there was no official action taken.Council men agreed that Mayor Eugene Fuerst should get several estimates for repair of the Ottoville police car which was damaged in an accident on April 14. Mayor Fuerst said it may be necessary to have a special meeting to make a decision on the estimates.The left rear section of the 1965 Oldsmobile was damagedwhen it was hit by another car on Rt. 66 near Wayne Street inthe southern part of the village.The police car was beingdriven by Gregory Eggeman,night patrolman, when hit by aMustang driven by EugeneHilvers, Rt. 2 Fort Jennings.Police are now using a 1961Valiant owned by the villagewhich councilmen had on April7 voted to sell.Clerk Clarence Wesselireported he had checked withthe local insurance agent about insurance coverage on the fire house and its contents. Councilmen had earlier questioned if the fire hose and ladders stored in the building were covered under the fire truck policy or the policy on the building and its contents.Mr. Wesseli said, according to information from the insurance company, anything that belongs on the fire truck is covered by the policy. Therefore, the $500 present coverage on the contents of the fire house should be adequate, he said.Councilman Gene Beining reported a catch, basin at the corner of Auglaize Street and Rt. 224 is breaking at the edges. Early repair is planned before the breakage worsens.
