WES f-END PLAT TRAGEDY/Mr. Plowden, at Marylebone Police Court on Saturday, committed for. trial Maurice Cecil Alabaster, alias Portalis, a British subject, of Bonaparte Mansious, Westbourne-grove, on a charge of murdering Dorothy Balsden, aliasBristol Dolly, at Blenheim Mansions, Shroton-street, Marylebone, on February 28. The accusedreserved his defence.‘ Dr. Bernard Spilsburv said that the woman’sdeath was due to'asphyxia caused by strangulation.. She suffered from status lymphaticus, and a shock might have caused death. Dr. Pepper agreed with this. Dr. Spilsbury thought that the violence used might not have been sufficient of itself to cause death, but Dr. Peppes. said that there was nothing to show that the status lymphaticus would have caused death in the absence of violence. Dr. E. A. Boyd declared that the cause of death was mainly status lymphaticus. He did not think that the girl would otherwise hv© died*' Mr. Plowden observed that the case resolved itself into the difference in the value of the opinions of the doctors. There was a startling and diametrical difference between the views of Dr. Boyd and Dr. Pepper.
