JACK BURKE AGAIN!^ lt;(Special to The Times.)Crown Point, Ind., May 6.—Jack j Burke of Cedar Lake has again run up lt;against the strong arm of the law, but was let down easy yesterday when Judge Fisher dismissed the case. Burke \ was arrested on a charge of assault and battery, preferrey by one Kniil Ichulze of Cedar hike, who claims Burke mo- * lested him and struck him in the face after a slight altercation regarding [ some household effects Sohultze was moving’, they being claimed by Bnrke. Constable Killian arrested Burke and the hearing was scheduled to take place in Judge Fisher’s court, but owing to the temporary absence of the prosecuting witness the case was dismissed by the judge.In a Free Man Xoit.Charley Schields, whose trial took place in the circuit court yesterday, being the first criminal case for the May term, lie being charged with robbery, left Crown Point a happy and free man last evening, being acquitted by the jury on a lack of sufficient evidence to convict. Attorney Joe Conroy defended Sellields, while the state’s was upheld by Prosecutor fireenwald. The arguments of the counsel were spirited and somewhat acrimonious at times.
