TIMMONS ON TOP.Termination of the Timmons CobleHanging Affair.It will be remembered by readers of this paper that on or about July, 1882 .Silas L. Timmons, a half-witted son of Silas E. Timmons, of Adams township, was, according to his own story, taken by Itichard Coble, Jacob McCahrenand G. W. Tribbitt, to a barn on Coble’s farm that was occupied by McCahren,and hung by the neck oy'er a stringerin the building, until he was'S^w*^ choked to death; that he was, accordingto the same authoiity, dragged down asteep hill by a strap or line tied around his neck aud pulled by McCahren. At the last session of ihe Grand Jury, Coble, McCahren aud Tribbitt Were indicted ou a charge of assault and battery with intent to commit murder, at the instance of old man Timmons. The trial was put ofi until the present term of court and took place 011 last Friday. There was much couilict of testimony, young Timmous testifying that his injuries 4were merely nominal and denying entirely his former statements. Quite a number of witnesses were in attendance, and their evidence was sadly marred by a lack of corroborating circumstances. Thejury returned a verdict of guilty as to McCahren imposinga fine of twenty-five dollars and costs, and acquitting both Coble, and Tribbitt. Judge Dykemau, of Logan-sport, assisted in the prosecution. It isto be hoped that this will terminate the disgraceful atfair, although young Timmous possesses the qualities ueces-i sary to kick up another rumpus within ‘ a snort time.
