Convicted killer in Marquette cell MENOMINEE — The convicted killer of a 15-year-old Menominee girl has been transported to the Marquette State Prison where he will begin serving a 21-year sentence for second degree murder. Richard Kalke, 21, Crivitz, Wis., pleaded guilty in April to the May, 1980, stabbing death of 15-year-old Marcia Burns, Menominee. He had been incarcerated in the Menominee County Jail for almost a year. Atlanta victim ID card found ATLANTA (UPI) — Police said Friday an old man who roams the city scavenging for junk found an iden tification card belonging to Jimmy Ray Payne, last of 26 Atlanta young blacks to be found slain. The man, known as ‘‘Pops’’ and identified as 63-year-old Fred Wyatt, is so forgetful, however, police said he could not remember where he picked it up and investigators have been unable to capitalize further on the clue. They said Wyatt was taken into custody for causing a disturbance and Payne's ID card from Alto, a refor matory, was found in his possession. The body of the 21-year-old Payne was found floating in the Chat tahoochee River late Monday. He was the fifth to be pulled from the river during the 21-month-long string of crimes, and the 10th victim of Atlanta’s child killers this year. Demonstrators block highways BOSTON (UPI) — Hundreds of marching demonstrators jammed highways Friday, backing up mor ning rush hour traffic for miles in an escalating citizens’ revolt against cutbacks in police and fire protection. The guerrilla-like rebellion against Mayor Kevin H. White's fiscal policies for the third straight day was marked by demonstrators swarming across traffic lanes at about a half dozen key spots. Cars were halted for up to an hour in some places, but police — also op posed to the mayor's positions made no arrests. Abscam conviction NEW YORK (API) — Sen. Harrison Williams Friday became the first senator and seventh member of Congress to be convicted of political corruption charges in the FBI's Abscam probe. A jury of eight men and four women found the New Jersey Democrat guilty of all counts in the nine-count bribery-conspiracy indictment against him.
