Allen Commended by Coroner’s Jury for Bravery Under Barrage | of Bullets from Knox GunThat Corporal Michael Morlarty. of the Drumheller detachment of the | itoyal Canadian Mounted Police, came to Ills death on April 26, 1935, by a bullet flred from a 30-30 rifle In the hands of David S. Knox, was the verdict of a Jury following an inquest at j the court house on Tuesday afternoon. The Jury was composed of C. Newman (foreman), C. B. Guteraon. N. C. Jackson. N. B. Vickers. W. W. Gil lender and J. H. N. Dutton. Dr. G. . M. Gibson was the presiding coroner.Commendation of the jury was included In a rider added to the ver -diet for the bravery of Constable K. Allen, who accompanied Corporal M.J Morlarty to the Knox farm, and under heavy rltle fire, endeavored to render aid to hla victimized fellow0 ir.ee r.\V. R. Sandcrcock gave evidence that he was acting on behalf of Oscar Anderson, who had bought the farm which Knox had been leasing f-om the C.T.R. land department, and that he went out to Knox's furm on April 5 with a court order for possession of the farm. Knox refused to leave the farm, wherewith Mr. Sandcrcock told him it was a judge's order, but Knox only answered: I'm r.ot getting ofT.” On April 16. a writ r.: possession was turned over to the sheriff for action. E. C. Needs told the jury that he had handed the writ over to Bailiff D. A. Oliver for action.Mr. Oliver went out to the Knox ■farm on April 25. and according to Lis own evidence, hired two men with n team and wagon, who accorn-pan led him. Intent upon removing-1 son's from the Tarm Leav-jlag the two men and wagon stationed between the house and bam on the Knox farm.
