25 years agoIn spite of concerns expressed by many citizens, Village Council voted unanimously to annex 207 acres, including the Granville Golf Course. Some were worriedabout possible impact on the school system. The dump would be near Raccoon Creek on the east side of Lancaster Road, at the old slaughterhouse (in thevicinity of the village building on the south side of thecreek).The Granville Times,April 3, 1930110 years agoThe editors seemed somewhat perplexed about the results of the local election held the preceding week. In the school board race, the Republicans, who handily won all the other contests, did not list nominees, leaving it up to the voters to write in their names. The Democrats, on the other hand, listed three women on the ballot. Some voters failed to write in the names of the male Republicans, resulting in a win for the women.“It is safe to presume that had the names of the candidates been printed on the Republican school board ticket, the results would have been different.
