RAID ON HOUSE ‘UNSUCCESSFUL'Government Will Replace Damage At Hot Spring As Karpis Sought 1Hot Springs, Ark., March Departmont of justice agents who raided a summer cottage near here yesterday in a reputedly unsuccessful quest for Alvin Karpis, the No. 1 public enemy, today arranged with the owner of the house to pay for property damaged in the raid, and prepared to vacate the cottage.A large squad remained at the house during the night and this morning taking fingerprints from walls, furniture and personal effects found at the place, meantime maintaining complete silence on what quarry had prompted, the rush on the hilltop residence, and on what results had been obtained.Hot Springs poller, and Kansas slate police who were in Hoi Springs during the raid, expressed the view that it was an unsuccessful one, but persons living near the house still believed three persons I were taken into custody.Karpis, whose name has been linked with many crimes, is wanted principally for the $200,000 Bremer kidnaping of 1934.
