LYNCHING BEE PROBABLEThe First Attempt at Crown Point Repulsed by the Sheriff.Crown Paint, Ind., March 29.—Forty masked men armd witlh chubs and shot .guns, miarched t'o the jail 'here at 10:30 o’clock toniglht, with the expressed determination cf lynching Albert Knaus, wholast night attempted to murder Mrs. Nioh-%olas T-Poan, on her husband’s farm at Cedar Lake. Sheriff Hares was prepared j for them, however, and his resolute man-I ner and threatening rifle quickly put the* 4mob in retreat. Deputies are however still on guard at tbe jail in fear of another attack. The excitement is intense, but no further trouble is expected tonight.
