Tin* St. Joseph County Coroner Arrested,Hr. K. M. Drollinger. of South Rend, the St. Joseph county coroner, wasarrested, and ihrown into jail one day last week nn i he ‘‘haivc of having performed an ahoriiou, en a girl by the name nf Mary Himes, who eonfissed the whole all'air when taken ii.tn custody. It seems that the result of liv criminal work was found in the hack yard of the Reynolds House. An investigation by the officers resulted in the arrest of t he Himes girl as being tho mother. She was taken to Dr. 1 Bollinger foran examination and he pronounced her all right, it is said. The officers were not satisfied, and the examination was followed by other physicians. At this stage of the investigation the girl broke down and disclosed the whole crime, (’has. (’. Marble, a horse trainer, was accused of being the ol-ject of her ruin, and that he had agreed to pay the coroner $12. for the operation. After this. Marble and Pro]linger were arrested and jailed.It is said that the evidence of their guilt was so strong that even the friends of the men deserted them in the hour of need. Sheriff Jarrell, of Marrhall county, who is a brother-in-law of Dr. I Bollinger's, put in an appearance and a bond for the Doctor's release was fixed up In the sum of $.*,-01)0. This was signed by the Marshall county Sheritf, Dr. K. M. 1 Bollinger, and ex-Post master Lister, and thecoroner came forth from behind the locks. The charge was preferred by Marshal Hose. The penalty for this crime is not more than 11 years nor less than two years imprisonment in the penitentinry.It is stated that Miss Himes and Marlde were married on Monday night. The man was induced to many the girl by Ids mother who is in that city taking care of her.On Tuesday Di. Drolfinger was taken before the mayor, when lie waived examination. The mayor then set the case down for the 1st day of the next term of court, and raised the bond to $10,000. It. was signed
