nPOLICE TO DIAL TELEPHONE CALLSs New System Installed to Speed up Work in Local Headquarters.The dial system of telephoning was put into use late yesterday afternoon in all departments and bureaus of the Lowell Police department, an-1 all incoming calls were handled through it. last night. An operator of the New England Telephone^ Telegraph Co., which had installed the apparatus about two weeks ago, instructed police officials in its us3.Now all a coming calls are received at the central desk and then put through to other departments. The system connects the desk with the police women's office, the toll booth, the superintendent’s office, the crim-inal bureau, guard room and garage.It is expected that the new arrangements will facilitate communication between departments.
