The father and sonare charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Goebel, Slone and Abney are charged with conspiracy to commit murder.Monday, attorneys Thomas D. Collignon and Kirk J. Kavanaugh said Ricky Weatherford should not be tried in the same proceeding as Slone.Attorney Jane Cotton was appointed about a week ago to represent Slone. Collignon said Cotton would not have enough time to prepare properly for trial andher unreadiness would hamper attorneys trying to defend Ricky Weatherford.said Slone has changed and withdrawn his request for a speedy trial. His trial will be set at a later date, according to Madison Circuit Judge Fredrick Spencer.Collignon then questioned chief deputy prosecutor James Nave about the proposed list of witnesses expected to testify against Weatherford.Nave said he had 32 formal statements of civilians expected to be called, along with several investigators from the Montgomery County Police Department, Madison County Police Department and Indiana State Police. Othersinvolved in the autopsy on Martin's body or firearms experts also will be called, he added.Martin was killed Dec. 18 whensomeone fired a shotgun through the front door of his MadisonCounty home.The Weatherfords, Slone, Goebel and Abney allegedly began plotting against Martin July 15, according to police.Collignon said Ricky Weather-rd was not in Madison Countyhen Martin was shot.Ricky Weatherford is scheduled for trial April 12.
