Worrell Friday.Billy Ray Belcher received one to 10 years on a breaking and entering charge. Truman Blankenship, convicted of arson, received two to 20 years.Bert C line and James Goodman, convicted of moon shining were sentenced to one year in jail and fined Si 00.Alex Belcher received a one to five year sentence on an arson charge. ;Judge Worrell placed all. except Billy Ray Belcher, on a three-;year probation.An 18-year-old youth, BryanToler, convicted of arson was sent to the State Industrial School. Buddy Carter, charged with breaking and entering a store, was allowed to post $265 bond to guarantee restitution to the store owner, and his case was dropped.Trial of Thomas Goodman, 42-vear-old invalid described by of-ficers as head of the ring, was postponed until the next term ofcourt.Trials of four other alleged members, including juveniles, were not docketed for the March term.At the time of the arrests, officers said the crimes of the prisoners dated back three and a halfyears. Sheriff Paul Goode said his•*office began investigating the activities of the gang in November.The officers’ raid included searching a room dug beneath theexposed roots of a tree on a river bank.
