William “Red” Lewis, 2, VTA coordinator, a former N )rth Adams Councilman, hunted in vein for Miss Lucy M.l Beacco, 19, attractive Stock-)bridge girl, then as quicklysped back to New York to take in custody a man known as “Louis/’ or “Frenchy,” for questioning in lt;hc tr pie slaving of Miss Veronica Gideon,JO; her mother, ar.vl a waiter living in an adjoining apartment in that citv.Telegram FromMiss Beacco. friend of the slain girl, went to New York four'1i*s I,un M, IVarenmonths ago to be a mannikin in a department store. In the Gedeon apartment was found a telegram from “Red” Lewis asking:Are you coming up for Easter?” Lewis received no reply. The Beacco family said their daughter had been living at 102 22nd Street, but the lease on her apartment expired April 1 and she had already moved. They did not have her new address.
