FORMER JACKSON BOY SLUGGED AND ROBBEDi —A masked bandit slugged and robbed W. G. Thaxton, cashier of the Humble Oil Co. offices at Dallas jfand G. H. Tracks early Monday as Thaxton was opening' the office.Thaxton was treated at the emergency hospital for a badly lacerated head. He said he had been struck several times with a blackjack and knocked unconscious.Regaining consciousness, he called police.•Thaxton refused to be taken to a 1 hospital and returned to the refinery to aid in checking the amount of cash and cheeks taken.Police said Thaxton put up a terrific struggle with his assailant. A large water bottle was broken and the office badly disarranged.Amount of the loot taken was reported as $46.36. Several hundred dollars in checks was left untouched.—El Paso, (Texas) Herald.Mr. Thaxton is a son of the late Mr. R. A. Thaxton and Mrs. Thaxton. After leaving Jackson he has made his home in the West for a number of years.
