FINED $300 AND THREETWO HAWARDEN MEN GATHER ED IN ON LIQUOR CHARGESGeorge Albertos and Dave Ferren Plead Guilty to Indictment* by the Grand JuryTwo Hawarden men, George Albertos and Dave Ferren, were arrested early Tuesday evening by local officers upon advice of Sheriff Hugo Synhorst that they were wanted to answer to indictment for liquof law violations voted against them by the March grand jury which was in session Monday and Tuesday. Sheriff Synhorst and Deputy Harry Dykstra drove over Tuesday eveing and took them to Orange City. It is understood that their indictment was the result of evidence obtained against them a month or' two ago but which had been kept under cover until the convening of the grand jury,Albertus was charged with bootlegging while the charge against Ferrenwas that of maintaining a liquor nuisance. Both men went before Judge Butler at Orange City Wednesday morning and entered pleas of guilty whereupon they were each sentenced to pay a fine of $300 and the cost* in the action and to serve three mopVhs in the county jail. They began serving their sentences immediately.It is reported that their arrest cau*-ed considerable uneasiness among otti-er members of the bootlegging fra*-tcrnity and that one or two parties have left town until the wind shifts to a new quarter.
