The entire ha Cassaway family was mysteriously j ro murdered at the family home In Olive Street Tuesday night, the assassin using an ax to dispatch his victims. When the bodies were burled today j tb the father occupied one coffin, the! Hi mother and her six months old babe another, and the two children, aged respectively three and six the third.The murder of the Cassaway family is the most mysterious that ever took place In this city and so far there is no due to the person who did the j we bloody work. Cassaway was the janitor at a negro school and is said to have been a well behaved member of his race. His wife, who was very fair of complexion, was believed to have been a white woman, but those who have known her declare that she contained a trace of negro blood, and on that account was divorced ten years ago or more from a cowboy to whom she was married in her girlhood. It is a commonly accepted theory here that the killing was done by some one who, believing that Mrs. CasBaway was a white woman and beIng insanely apposed to any mixture of the whites and blacks, conceived the notion of wiping out the entire family.
