SENTENCES.judge Moora Dkatposing of a Batch of Criminals—An Eastern District Confectioner Sent up for Soiling Obscene Article**In the Court of Sessions, yesterday afternoon, Catharine Maloney, accused of perjury in swearing that she was tb© sole surviving relative of Michael Maloney, was tried and acquitted. She was defended by Mr. Charles J. Patterson, of Barrett k Patterson.This morning the following criminals were brought before Judge Moor© and Associate Justices Wicbam and PJgoti, for sentence.Bernard MoMahon, assault and battery with intent, tried and eouvioted ; one year iu the Penitentiary.Ellas Bogert, burglary, third degree, and grand larceny. pleaded guilty of an attempt to commit burglary in the third degree ; one year and three months. Richard Higney, same as above ; one year and throemonths,James Hunt, same aa above; ono year and throe months.Edward H, Johnson,petit larceny, pleaded guilty ;ten days iu jail, dames Carry, two indictments, petit larceny, pleadedguilty; six months on each.John Mulvey, petit larceny from the person, triedand convicted; six months in Penitentiary.Edward Cabins, burg)err, third degree, pleaded guilty; two years in the Penitentiary.Louis Wongenroth, indicted for selling obscene confections, pleaded guilty ; three months in Penitentiary and a fin© of $150, and in default of payment six months additional. Wongenroth is a confectioner on Grand street, E. D., and claims that he produced thearticles, for selling which he was indicted, for certain officials of How York City, and that he was not in the business as a regular thiDg, Great influence was brought to bear to secure his immunity, and steps ore already being taken to procure hi* pardon.
