*Man faces bank robbery chargesBY EMILY JARRETTDemocrat Reporterejarrett@seda!idemocratcomA Sedalia man has been arrested in a robbery of a U.S. Bank branch on Monday, Sedalia police said.Lenford “Art” Buckner, 45, has been charged withfirst-degree robbery, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon after police say he walked into the bank branch at West Fourth Street and South Osage Avenue, demanded money and told the teller he had a gun. The robber left with $2,000.“Soon after the robbery, we got a good lead on a possible suspect: Buckner,” said Sedalia Police Department Cmdr. David Woolery. “We contacted the FBI, which is standard procedure because bank robberies also fall under their jurisdiction, and using their resources, tracked Buckner to his place of employment”Officers, with help from the FBI, Pettis County Sheriffs Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol, arrested Buckner while he was working at aSUBMITTED PHOTOSedalia Police released this security camera image of the suspect in Monday’s robbery of the U.S. Bank branch at West Fourth Street and South Osage Avenue in downtown Sedalia.poultry barn in northeast Pettis County, Woolery said.“We secured the farm and took Buckner into custody without incident,” he said.'Buckner is being held at the Pettis County Jail pending formal filing of charges., This is the second time in less than a year the branch has been robbed.On Aug. 29, Higginsville resident David R. Burke stole $2,622 from thebank.Heeventuallywascharged with four counts of bank robbery and pleaded guilty this month in federal court. Burke remains in custody until a sentencing hearing is set,according to the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri.
