Severe sentences were imposed by Justice McDonald at the Min-ncdosa assizes last week on the Galicians convicted of breakinginto T. McLennan's store at Asessippi and stealing the safe and other articles. Wasyl Cob-liuk was given seven years,five years and Peter Siminuke twelve months, and Wasyl Featherczuk was let of on account of turning King’s evidence. In delivering sentence the judge spoke strongly against Wasyl j Cobliuk, the leader of the gang, stating that the presence of such men in a community was aj menace to the security of both i life and property and he thought the pnsoner should be deported.
