K. W. Hemmer Taken By Death At Age of 69 !4K. W. Hemmer, 69, a former teacher at Huntingburg and for many years a teacher in Vanderburgh county before he retired in 1942, died suddenly yesterday of a ' heart attack near his home in Ev- ( ansville. Mr. Hemmer was principal of the West Heights School in , - that city at the time he retired. ! Mr. Hemmer's hobby was flowers, • and he had gone to set out some plants on the property of his daugh- , ter, Marlon, a teacher in Reitz High School, when he was stricken. He died In an ambulance on the way to the hospital.Sir. Hemmer began his teaching career 46 years ago in Huntingburg. For 17 years, until 1933, he was Vanderburgh county superintendent of schools.He and his family frequently visited relatives in Dubois county, ! and only last Sunday were in Jasper to attend the homecoming celebration for the Wildcats and visit Mrs. Hemmer's sister, Mrs. Leo C Jahn, and family.Surviving are the wife, Lillian I (nee Sweeney; two sons. Ronald oiJZvAncviUo nnd in nf WAShiP-ff-ton, DC; a sister, Mrs. Rubin Nie-haus of Huntingburg; two brothers, John Hemmer of Huntingburg and Wesley Hemmer of Fullerton, Calif,; and seven grandchildren. jThe bodv is at the Alexander Funeral Home in Evansville. Funeral services have been tentatively set for 2 P M Monday.
