Tavern Owners(Continued from Page 1)retary, also expounded their thoughts on the formation of the new organization.Eddie Flynn, business agent for the Bartenders and Waitresses Local No. 243 took the floor, stating that he, and his local, would do everything in their power to assist taverns in securing proper employees. Many other personages and guests from nearby towns were introduced by the chair.At this point in the program, the business of setting up the county chapter began. Officers were nominated and elected. Those men put in office to steer and guide the new chapter through its embryonic stages were: President, Herb Morgan of the H H Tavern in WoodRiver; vice-president, Fred Eckardowner of the Red Star Tavern in Bethalto; Secretary, Abe Aldridge of Abe's Tavern Cottage Hills; treasurer, A. H. “Bill” Gibson proprietor of the L M Tavern in Wood River and for Sgt.-at-Arms, Oscar Bergman who operates Bergman's Tavern in Hartford.The new chapter has been given the title of the Wood River Area of the Illinois State Retail Liquor Dealers Association and will receive members of Cottage Hills, Bethalto, Roxana, Wood River, East Alton and Hartford. Many persons present at the banquet signed as members of the new unit. A meeting will be held in the near future at which time matters pertaining to by-laws and other affairs will bef completed. All tavern owners in the area will be notified of the contemplated meeting.The festivities wound up with Binx Crivello putting on a half-hour show of magic. It never fails to happen that when a magician is on the program, someone has to be a good sport, so the honor went to Mrs. Jungk, Mrs. Elliott, Abe Aldridge and Paul Rexford. These people served as guinea pigs for the many magical acts performed by the Magician Crivello.
