Tribal leader’s hearing movedTOLEDO, Iowa (AP) — Thetrial of a former chairman of the Mesquakie Tribal Council has been moved from Tama County Magistrate Court to District .Court because of the seriousness of the charges.Keith Davenport of Tama was charged last week with two counts of sexual abuse as a counselor or therapist. The charge is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.Magistrate John Felts releasedDavenport, 39, without bail or supervision Wednesday.Davenport is accused of sexually abusing two girls while he wasa counselor at the Iowa Juvenile Home. He worked at the statehome from October 1988 to November 1992.
