Our laws guarantee that a parson may not be forced to testify against himself. Yet this'girl was subjected to a-frightful ordeal by the-police and* the District-Attorney. She was told that Brooks was still living, when her questioners knew that statement was a lie. She was questioned, threatened, browbeaten. And the unguarded remarks she let. fall upon this mental rack were used against her at the hearing. . There is nothing to prevent Miss Burns'ei rearrest and indictment if proper evidence against her can be found.
