Jim Hall, Hunter and Trapper Near Shelby, Makes aGrewsome Find T esterdayMorning While DuckHunting.FRAGMENTS OF CLOTHESTHE SKELETONSilver Watch and Chain Are FoundBeside the Bones—Indications AreThat Body Has Been in Biver forMore Than a Year—CommunityIs Mystified at Discovery.(Special to Thh Times.)Thayer, Ind., March 28.—Jim Hall, a hunter and trapper, living near Shelby, Ind., while duck hunting yesterday morning in the Kankakee marsh, made a grewsome find when he came across the skull and skeleton of an unknown man.The remains were fqypnd in what is known as the Elkhorn Bayou, Just above the “Three-I” railroad bridge, in the Nels Morris’ marsh.Hall had waded into the marsh to retrieve a wounded duck that had fallen near a prickle bush and therehe discovered the white object under the water.Thinking at first that it was the skull of some animal, he discovered upon closer examination the outline of a human form. He went at once to theDiana Hunting club, where he secured help to raise the body. He wae ao-land, deputy sheriff of Newton ocunty, who was at the club and, together, they brought the remains to the club house.Bones Bare of F*les1.It is thought that the body musthave been in the water for more than a year, as ftie bones were bare of flesh. Parts of the clothing still adhered to the skeleton. The man wore a pair of overalls, a shirt and vest, but no coat. He had on a pair of short hunting boots. Nothing was found to identify the body, excepting a large silver watch and chain with a lodge charm. Neither gun nor hat has been found so far.The entire community Is mystified over the identity of the body, as no native person of the description is missing.The presumption is that is probably the body of a snipe or wood chuck hunter from some other place, and unless Identified a close searoh will hemade as soon as the water receeds for gun and shells and possibly other articles.Mi
