Long Sentence Commuted..Jefferson City, Mo., March Governor Stephens to day reduced to 50 months in the prisonwithout benefit of three-quarters law the 15-year sentence passed on Daniel McCollum at the December| term, 1883, of the Linn CountyCircuit Court for murder in the; . „ »v *second degree. The commutation was strongly urged by JudgeProsecuting AttorneyBresnehan and others on account of the many mitigating circumstances in the case.McCollum has already served months. He was convicted forthe killing of John Baker, in Baker township.
