■ Police Ufattere.rhe examination of Elijah Wood, on lhe{charge of Burglary, was concluded by the May-, or yesterday. He was arrested on suspicion ot having broken open and robbed two stores in Carthage, of goods to Che amount of #500.An accomplice who had been in the employ of Mr. Vankirk, one of the persons robbed, confessed the crime and turned states evidence against Wood. In his testimony he states that he had also stolen oats and corn from bis em*! ployer for Wood. Both were held to bail on two charges. Wood was formerly constable o Mill Creek township. Baker the witness, fansthere was another man with them when the burglaries were committed but he does not know his name and cannot describe him.
