Stabbing Leaves Man Dead, Woman WoundedBARSTOW - A 62-year-old Barstow man was arrested by Sheriff's deputies last night after a disturbance at a local trailer park that left one person dead and die suspect’s female companion in serious condition from multiple stab woundsKilled in the 10 p.m. altercation last night was Robert Reed Strickler, 49, a truck driver and a resident of the Colonial Trailer Park, Space 54, 31231 E. Main St.The injured victim, Roxie D. Rice, 51, was reported to be in serious condition at San Bernardino County Medical Center, according to Lt. Ron Forbush of the sheriff’s central homicide detail in San Bernardino.The suspect was identified as Fred Henson, 62, a retired cook and baker, of 200 W. Williams St.Investigators said Mrs. Rice had been living with Henson in the Williams Street apartment.The disturbance was reported by a next door neighbor who called the Barstow Police Department from a telephone at the Stop Go Market on Montara Road. The Police Department immediately dispat-ched a patrol unit to the scene and notified the Barstow Sheriff’s Substation which responded with all available units.When officers arrived thev found bothvictims stabbed and then arrested Henson, who had remained at the scene Forbush said Henson and Mrs Rice went to Strickler’s home together late yesterday morning to visit him and stayed to drink ’alcoholic beverages ”According to information gathered by detectives from the Barstow Sheriffs Substation, Henson left the mobile home for a few hours, leaving Mrs. Rice alone with Strickler.When Henson returned last night, an argument took place between all three individuals, Forbush said, and Henson allegedly stabbed Strickler and Mrs. Rice during the altercation.Forbush said the murder weapon was not immediately found, and the exact cause of Strickler’s death was to be determined by an autopsy However, deputies observed that Strickler had a stab wound m the abdomen, and Mrs. Rice suffered from multiple stab wounds in the chest and abdomen,Henson was taken to the Barstow Sheriff's Substation and booked for murder and assault with intent to commit murder He was later transferred to the main county jail in San Bernardino
