Impact FirmSeeking BuyerAnew owner for Impact Extrusions, Inc., 2102 Calumet, is being sought by its parent corporation, Modern Drop Forge, Blue Island, III.A.W. Pommerville, Valparaiso, president of the local firm for the past three years, said that ecological and health occupation standards are forcing the move.“We would have to expand beyond our capacity to meet new standards,” Pommerville said. He noted that environmental restrictions placed on the industry and rules set by the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 are placing a financial burden on the corporation.Impact Extrusions, which employs 16 people, contracts for the production of extruded or forced aluminum and steel products, Pommerville said.The firm started here 14 years ago, when stock was held by Hammond and East Chicago area residents, the local president said. It now occupies a 2V2-acre site on the east side of Calumet, where its 17,200-square-foot building is located.Pommerville said that Impact Extrusions would remain in full operation if a new buyer is found.
