POUCE SET TRAP FOR BURGLARS AT FARGO WAREHOUSEGANG SURPRISED AFTER LOADING ELEVATOR WITH LOOT, READY TO LEAVE.Oscar Holtc, Officer, Shot la Head; Arthur Martel, Moorhead,Hit In Abdomen.A Fargo policeman and two alleged bandits, one of them a Moorhead man, are in the hospital with bullet wounds, and three other members of the alleged robber gang are in jail as the result of a pitched gun battle in the Winston-Newell warehouse, Fargo, about 11 p. m.Mondav.*Oscar Holte, the policeman, is in a serious condition. A bullet passed through his nose and downward,lodging in his neck.Arthur Martel. Moorhead, one of the gang, had his right lung and liver pierced, the bullet passing out through the abdomen.C. H. Benson, Fargo, another gang member, was shot through the eye.Will RecoverAlthough all are said to be in serious condition, they are expected to recover.Bruce Dan Weatherhead, Moorhead. said to have been the robber who first began shooting; Ed Olson, owner of a truck, and Sam Brooks, truck driver, are held in the Cass county jail.Working on a “tip” eight officers hid in the warehouse, including police and sheriff’s officers. They had word the burglary was to take place at 11 p. m. They waited and the gang arrived on schedule. Three of the gang entered the building. Brooks remained outside with the truck.The officers let the three go upstairs in an elevator, get a load and come down. As they tame out of the elevator the officers commanded “stick ’em up and come out.”Weatherhead FiresBut Weatherhead fired from behind a load of paper. His gun was found later, said to have been firedeight times. Officers said at least 25 shots were exchanged, but it was believed Weatherhead was the onlybandit armed with a gun. He was not injured.Olson, owner of the bandit truck, was -arrested this morning.
