7 976 Slaying Of Cherry Tree GirlFour Men Arrested On Murder ChargeBy BILL GRAFFGutUt AuIiKbI EditorCHEP.RY TREE — State police from Indiana and Huntingdon have arrested four men in connection with the July 31,1976 shooting death of Deann Katherine Long. 15, of Cherry Tree RD 2;The four suspects arrested Thursday and charged with homicide and complicity were:— Joseph Victor Receskey. 30. of Cherry Tree RD 2, arrested at his residence at 7:20 a.m.— John Robert Lynch, 25, of Commodore RD 1. arrested at his home at 7:45 a.m.— Lewis James Fogle. 29, arrested at 11:45 a.m. near his home at Brady’s Trailer Court, Indiana RD 4, White Township.— Dennis Eugene Fogle, 27, of Huntingdon RD 1, arrested at 3:55 p.m. at his home in Smithfieid Township, Huntingdon County, with assistance from Troop G of the state police in Huntingdon.from Indiana in conjunction with the Indiana County District Attorney’s office.Long and her then-12-year-old sister Lola had been walking along Route 580 near their home around 4 p.m. on July 30, 1976, when a white male in a dark blue sedan stopped. He told them their brother had been in an accident and he would drive the older sister to the scene.Deann Long’s brother had not been in an accident and when she didn't return home later that night state police were notified. Her body was found the next day by a neighbor in a wooded area about 300 yards from her home.Tests completed at the Allegheny County Morgue revealed that Long had been raped and then shot in the back of the head with a small-caliber gun. The description of the abductor by Long’s sister was the starting point of the lengthy state police investigation.Receskey, Lynch and Lewistaken to Clymer and charged with homicide before Wilkins, then fingerprinted at the Indiana station before being remanded to Bedford County Jail.Receskey was taken to Indiana County Jail, Lynch to Clearfield County Jail and Lewis Fogle to Cambria County Jail.Walp said the four will face a preliminary hearing before Wilkins at 1:30 p.m. March 25, unless their attorneys request time extensions.Thornburgh Nixes Tax increaseHARRISBURG (API - Despite his tax commission’s recommendation.
