Traffic accident victim was wanted for rapeSheriff's deputies confirmed yesterday that a young Georgia man killed in a traffic accident wasthe suspect wanted for allegedly raping a 16-year-oldVan Nuys girl.Investigators said the rape suspect, 19-year-old Jack Conway, described by deputies as a transient from Georgia, was found by a truck driver Friday morning in Kem County in an overturned car belonging to the rape victim.Deputies said the girl picked up a hitchhiker about 1:30 a.m. Friday near the Roscoe Blvd. onramp to the San Diego Freeway and was ordered at knifepoint to drive north toward Palmdale.The girl told authorities her assailant forced her to pull off the roadway near the Vista Point turnout, raped her, then sped off in her car.A passing truck driver found the girl wandering along the highway a short time later, reportedly notified authorities on his citizen’s band radio and took her to Palmdale General Hospital where she was treated and released.
