Incidents Connected With the Life of Joseph Medill.WAS A RESIDENT OP MASSILLON.Mr- Medill had Gone South to Avoid theSeverity of a Northern Winter—The Journalist* Last Words Were, “What 1b the News*”The general interest felt in the career of Joseph Medill, whose death notice and a brief sketch of whoselife appeared in Thursday’s Independent is increased in Massillon by the knowledge that the noted editor of the Chicago Tribune passed much of his early life in this city and its vicinity. The veteran newspaper man died of heart failure at San Antonio, Tex., at the Hotel Menger, where he had been staying since early in the winter. According to advices received by his friends, Mr. Medill passed away peacefully and without suffering.
