When she began to search for her goods it was to find they had been stolen. This was too muclr for Mrs.- Petraeus, so she decided to take the ca3e in her | own hands and put a stop to it.She began to jnake investigations.The amateur detective discovered that the culprits had entered by a small window on the side. From this evidence she drew the conclusion that the thieves must have been children.,In examining the big box she found be it had been entered after the lock had co been picked by a knife. Following t-h these clews she later was informed j*1.that two negro children, both girls, | kihad been in the barn earlier in the j th day.Her Sympathy Aroused.Upon securing the description of the children she employed the services j ei of two deputy constables. The men bi went to the home of the little negroes. 01 Their names were Lorena and Elva, w Tennon. The two childi^n had not arrived when the two constables made slt; their way to the home. They waited tt until the children had arrived and “] took them before Mrs. Petraeus, who a had gone home to await developments, ai The kids were both under ten years of age.When confronted by Mrs. Petraeus they acted very much ashamed and j the pretty detective began to weaken a little with sympathy. When she re-membered the many things that had tl been disappearing from her home she n changed her mind and the two were o taken to the police station and locked titheitlwup.Last night Mrs. W. W. Petraeus and her husband appeared before Justice S. F. Jones and had warrants issued for the negroes. They probably will be turned over to the juvenile court.n
