Sanity Hearing Requested for Young TulsanTULSA (AP) — A sanity hearing is being sought for a 17-year-old Tulsa youth who has been released from prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of a child.The hearing is being sought for Wayne Henry Garrison, who was released from the Oklahoma State Reformatory at Granite last week after serving 18 months on his guilty plea to a charge of involuntary manslaughter.Officials say Garrison never got any psychiatric care in prison.Garrison was sentenced to four years in prison Sept. 9, 1975, in the 1974 death of Craig Neal, 3. The infant's body was found in a plastic bag under a house. He had smothered to death.“We’re doing everything we can and we’ll exhaust every available means to see the boy is given a hearing on his presentsanity,” said District Court Judge Jay Dalton.Dist. Atty. S.M. Fallis Jr. said authorities were seeking cooperation from Garrison’s relatives for mental testing but said other procedures would bepursued if they don’t give theirpermission.
